Reflecting on the components and your role as a learning partner for others (including students, family, and friends), are you a good partner? Which of the components are strengths? Which do you need to work on or are more challenging for you personally?

It was wonderful to see how much each of you have grown and developed over the past year and your honest evaluation of the growth you would still like to make. Now that you have read each of the stories Baxter Magolda relates, which one most closely reflects your own journey or gave you insights into your own path? In what way? What did you learn about your development or where you may be headed?

In Authoring Your Life, Baxter Magolda discussed the internal and external voices that influence us as we enter early adulthood and face the challenges of everyday life. Reflecting on the stories you read in the book and your own recent decisions and challenges, would you say you rely more on internal or external voices at this point in your life? Of course we would all like to think we have a highly developed internal voice, but as exemplified in the book, this is often not the case. Often we have not been challenged or taught to cultivate our own internal voice. Where do you believe you are in this development? Would important others agree? Be sure to use concrete personal examples to support your position.
